Microsoft to Drop out of CES 2012
2012 will mark Microsoft’s last appearance in the Consumer Electronics Show. The biggest U.S. technology trade show starts on January 9th, and is expected to be one of the largest shows ever. Start-ups and industry giants alike will unveil their latest projects in Las Vegas.
This year, the tech show will officially be called the 2012 International CES. It is expected to draw an estimated 149,000 attendees with more than 2,7000 exhibitors. The most highly-talked about project in question is the Ultrabook, a thin computer that turns on instantly, and is said to be a competent contender against Apple’s MacBook Air.
Despite the show’s high anticipation level, Microsoft has announced that 2012 will be its last year at the event. The company said it feels the show no longer fits its needs and the timing of the show does not always coincide well with its product announcements.
The decision is akin to those made by Apple and other technology giants, who have already pulled out of the show.
