Skype Coming to Windows Phone “Soon”
Microsoft bought out VoIP company Skype last October for $8.5 billion in cash. The amount isn’t exactly pocket change, so it’s only fair that costumers are wondering why the new Windows Phone isn’t yet equipped with the video-chatting app. All Microsoft can say is that integration is “coming soon.”
Though video chat support is already present in the latest Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, Skype is still missing from the options.
What’s more embarrassing is that Apple and Android smartphones have already added Skype to their app stores, while Microsoft, who owns the VoIP company, hasn’t.
Skype’s VP of Products Rick Osterloh said at CES 2012 that the two companies are working on a Windows Phone product that will soon be available. Neither company gave any more specifics on when the app will be available.
